the number of people of blood group o,outnumber other groups.why?

Question:

Answers:
i believe it's the oldest blood type, and that is why it is the universal blood type.. o+ can take anyones blood and 0- can give to anyone... and being the oldest is is probably dominant in genetics.. which would mean that if one parent is O I'm guessing there is a higher likelihood of the children also being O... seems like people are still evolving away from the base O blood... just my thoughts, no scientific basis that i know of.

i know for a fact O- is the universal DONOR unlike what the lady above said.. I'm O- so i tend to keep up with it :) and O+ is the universal receiver, they can take any of the other major blood types, while O+ is fairly common, O- is considered rare because it has a double recessive Rh- factor, which means that if either parent donates a Rh+ factor the child can not be O-
O+ blood and O- blood are VERY rare... O+ blood can be used on anyone (except O-) and blood banks use it up because often they cant find a perfect match when an emergency occurs, O- blood can ONLY be used on O- blood, so if you need a blood transfusion and you have O- blood, they have to find O- blood cause NOTHING else will work, not even O+ blood. Hope this helps.
