Hospitals or Doctors office should provide you with a a brown jug or two that can hold approximately 3000 mls of urine. If you do not have a container like this or are looking for an alternative; any conatiner that will block light from getting to the urine such as opaque milk jug, Sprite 2L, etc. Just make sure that it is well cleaned with no residue from prior substances or water. This are what is used for 24 hour collection specimen testing for creatine clearance, total urine protien for kidney function. That is the most common test. It is also very important that when collecting 24 hour urines that they are stored refridgerated and that you do not miss any of your urine output. They are good for about 24 hours.
