severed nerve on forearm, very paranoid....?
of having no function and feeling in my hand. i had surgery to reattach the nerve and i was told i may take a year to regain function and some feeling... is it possible to encourage full feeling again? and could it take less than a year?..just worried that's all
Answers:
Stick with the program your physical therapist set you up with. Exercise the limb as much as possible without overdoing weight and range of motion guidelines. Being told a year doesn't mean it's set in stone. Many doctors will tell you a time frame that is longer than they expect you'll need, so you won't stress out over how long things are taking to progress. Obviously not working, in your case, but with your prognoses expect a good recovery.

nerves do take a long time to regenerate but you do need to believe all will be well
good luck

Do your therapy, and keep up on the latest research in regards to your condition. Christopher Reeve had a severe spinal cord injury and after intense physical therapy was able to move his toes - something that most people thought impossible! Good luck to you... do your "p.t."!
