Who can I contact to inspect mold in my house?

I am renting my apartment and I recently had a leak in my house and the water has been in the carpet for 2 weeks and just now the landlord has brought fans to dry the water. I have runny nose, burning/ watering eyes, sneezing, that have also only been occuring for the past 2 weeks. It started when the water came into the carpet/ walls. I seen mold behind our hotwater heater and the landlord say that cant't be the cause because the mold has been there for at least 5 years.I now want to find a way to cancel my lease and move because my health is more important then him just shop vac. the water out and drying it. He is not planning on replacing the carpet or sheet rock in the walls. Behind the wall paper is a lot of mold. I need to know who I can contact that does inspections on this type of situation or what my rights are as a renter. Any info would be helpful, I have only been getting the run around.

ok well i used to like a guy and he new i did and so we started to date and?

I would look in your local phone book under fair housing and ask them and also city building code inspection department. Your landlord is absolutely accountable for this. See a doctor and get a written statement as to the effects on your health also. I would not hesitate to move and handle the lease situation after wards. If you know someone with a video camera have them film the damage and keep a copy of it for further use. Also you may contact an attorney who specializes in housing violations.

I would try doing a google search indicating your area. You could also try the yellow pages, depending on the size of the city you live in. I would think if this is one of those types of toxic mold that can be very hurtful, that you would have some kind of resource. Does your state have some sort of Tenants' Rights Association or website?

i have these very itchy things on my body i think its an allergy but i dont know what it is. not chicken pox?

Your landlord is a sleeze. Tell him you want an inspection and make him pay for it. There are people listed in the phone book to contact. Look under mold. We just had it done at our house and it was pretty expensive for them to test.
