My doctor ordered a EMG and NCS are they painful?
Answers:
I have had an EMG and it was slightly painful.
One or both of these tests, which involve placing needles on the skin or in the muscles, can help identify problems with the nerves coming off the spinal cord.

how much air can human lungs hold on average?
I have had several EMG/NC tests done on my arms and legs. They were not painful. The tests measure muscle and nerve response and conductivity to help determine if there is nerve damage. The sensations from the testing feel kind of strange but not painful. The needles that are used look a little scary but if the doctor doing the test is skilled, that's all it is, scary. I just close my eyes as much as possible and do what I am told. Don't worry about it. Just know that it will help to diagnose whatever problem you may be having.More Questions and Answers
