Question:

the wound is covered by a cast because the arm is also broken in two places. The wound has not been cleaned since the the cast was put on it one month ago

Answers:
you can get an infection like staff witch can become very serious becuase you can die if it is to go untreated. But you would know if you had staff infection because the arm would most likely swell up and maybe their would be a dark purpilish color to the skin. Fever and feeling weak is another sign.

You will likely get an infection that can enter the bloodstream and kill you within days.

I think you may loose that arm :(
