I Have Insomnia. Advise Please???

Sadly, I've been an insomniac since I was five. Now unfortunately, this world we live in requires people to have sleep. Every once and a while It becomes necessary to get my sleep schedule on track. here is what i do: Drink some warm milk. warm milk contains triptophin(a naturally occuring chemical that makes you drowsy, can also be found in turkey) I put an cool compress on my eyes, and then i listen to an audio book through speakers on my ipod or on my computer. I find harry potter 5 works the best, the readers voice is really soothing. soft playing classical music works well also.
Regardless of what therapists or doctors might think. I think insomnia is a sign of intellegence. an insomniac is simply too busy thinking to bother with sleep. their mind just won't let their body sleep. the way to get to sleep is to clear your head of all thoughts.
In a pinch, when i must get a sleep schedule: i stay up for 24 hours straight, picking a reasonable hour to go to sleep. and then i sleep like a baby. if you put it off for as long as you can. your body will take over and force you to sleep. good luck!
given that everyone around me is a night owl, it is sometimes really hard to maintain, but if you make a conscious effort to go to bed at the same time every night, you might see good results from these two things.
