swelling after surgery?

Question:
ok, I had surgery on my wrist wednesday, they repaired torn legiments and i think muscles.yesterday my fingers started to swell and today it's a lot worse. I called the doc twice and they answered my question with a question, asking me if i've been elevating it and keeping ice on it. i've been doing both best i can i'm at home w/my 3 yearold alone all day, hubby works alot. so is it normal to be swollen? and i cant tell if its bleeding or pussing cuz i cant take my bandages off till the seventh, its very painful and i can barely move my fingers, excuse my typing, its my right hand thery did..thanks

Answers:
Just continue to keep it elevated and ice it. I know it's hard to do with a three year old they wait for no one. I had surgery on my leg with a baby in tow as well. As long as you don't run a fever or feel any other additional pains etc. You should be fine, sometimes you will swell up a few days after but by tomorrow it should go down. If not, then call your doctor again and insist you need to be seen if they take it lightly. You can barely move your fingers from the swelling so that's not too unusual but again if it worsens and you just don't feel it's right, insist on seeing the doctor. Good luck and fast healing!

You should go see your dr. right away.

I would continue to call and bother the nurse on call until you have an answer you are comfortable with. Try measuring your wrist to see how swollen it is. Take the measurements every couple of hours to see if in worsens. the best thing i can tell you to do is go to your doctor or the emergency room and demand that they take the bandages off and check it for you you are the person who pays them to care for you and you have rights to demand them to care for you
