If you are taking a drug test, and have been prescribed a medication, what kinds of proof are acceptable?

Question:
I will be taking a pre-employment drug screening very soon. I got into a major car accident a month ago and was prescribed vicodin. When I take the test, will providing the bottle be sufficient proof? What kinds of proof are acceptable?

Answers:
the pill bottle,or doc note

Other Answers:
The prescription bottle with your name on it and the date it was filled.
You can provide the prescription number and the pharmacy where you got it after the test comes back positive. If your company can verify that it is a valid, current legal prescription you'll be fine.
By showing them the bottle and giving them the doctors name that should cover it. They can call the doctor for any info they need.
When I screen my employees I just ask for a list of any meds they are taking and if anything else shows up there is a problem.
On your employment application it will ask if you are taking any medications. Mention that you have a prescription for pain medicine for a car accident. If you have already turned in your application, contact your employerand let them know in writing that you forgot to mention it on the application, before you take the blood/urine test preferably. If your employer asks, a letter from the doctor should be sufficient.
If you still have the prescription bottle with your name on it, it will work. If not, go to the pharmacy where you bought the prescription and they should be able to give you a slip stating when the prescription was filled and what Dr prescribed it. I had an appendectomy right before my screeening and had vicodin, demerol, and morphine in my system. (Major complications after surgery) They accepted the pill bottles with the prescription label on them.

Personal experience.
The prescription bottle with your name on it will be enough.
As long as the bottle has the prescription on it with the doctor's name and a prescription number.

it is always best to be straightforward with the drug screening people and bring allllllll script bottles in at the time of the screening. this will ensure there are no surprises when it comes to the results. If there are any ? the employer or screening people could contact your doctor
You might want to take a prescription from the doctor or the actual bottle with you. Also explain why youre taking it. They shouldnt fail you on the drug test. It will show you so go prepared when they ask what medication youre taking you should list it.
