I have never gotten an "ice cream" headache. Does this mean I have fewer taste buds?

Question:
I was told by a professor that an ice cream headache is caused by a frozen taste bud. Is this true?

Answers:
Is caused by rapid temperature changes from eating the cold material too rapidly. Sorry, a taste bud does not and cannot cause a headache. Has more to do with cooling taking place in the throat and its closeness to the carotid arteries, going up each side of your neck. Lack of oxygen or slowing of the circulation can cause several symptoms. However, usually short lived.
I thought an ice cream headache was like a brain freeze and was caused by the same thing, consuming too much ice cream/frozen drink/maybe even a cold beverage in a short amount of time.

You probably pace yourself like an intelligent person, when I'm thirsty I gulp it all down. Those slushie/slurpee things at the movie theaters kill me.
It means you're not eating the ice cream right!!

I thought it was caused by muscles tensing up from the cold...??
no, it's not. it's from excessive cold to your sinuses. if you never had one you're lucky.
