Only been at my new job for a month and just got mono - what to do?

Question:
I was hired as a teacher in August and started feeling really sick two weeks ago. Blood tests just confirmed my exhaustion is mono. I've now used all except two of my sick days for the entire school year trying to get better and I still feel as sick and tired as I did on day one, some days I can't even hardly get out of bed. I'll be running out of sick days on Tuesday and have to decide whether to just push myself and go back to work or apply for disability (which they may not even approve, then I'll have to pay $120 a day for a sub out of my pocket). My students really need me back, the subs are just not qualified to teach them what they need. Plus since this is my first year teaching I'm worried my bosses will see this as such a huge drag and not rehire me. I've heard mono can last for months - anyone ever had to work when they have mono? What should I do? My Dr. says I shouldn't go back but I feel like I really need to, I'm very torn on what to do.

Answers:
f you have your lesson plans laid out, talk to the principal, and see if you can schedule catnaps in-between classes. Try to keep off your feet in class. Keep the fluids and Vitamin C and E up, this may help to shorten the duration of the infection.
