When people die from taking one drug or another, why do we have sympathy for them? Surely they knew the risks?

Just had a 33 year old Daddy die of an Overdose... the girl, age 14, and boy, 12, sell sex outdoors, in the streets, just emulating mommy who is a prostitute, and advertises openly.
Anyway, daddy was a three time felon, just got out of prison, and we will NOT miss the turd. Now, his 'wife' can move off to some ghetto, with her teen gang of idiots...
If we see them back here, the cops will arrest again, for the 14th time...

I dunno whether it's sympathy for the victim, but I always feel sympathy for the victims family.
Even though there is information out there, once someone gets addicted to a drug it's hard for them to come off it, and its sad when someone hasn't got the help they need to get themselves off it, and eventually end up od'ing.
Sympathy for a sick person who knew but went ahead seems appropriate,
