I am a CNA in a nursing home?

Question:
I have been a CNA for a year now and am considering upgrading my skills into further nursing. (college, university)..what type of nursing would accept the work that I have done as credit into further nursing? What fields should I look into? Thank you

Answers:
i feel u should go ahead and go into the RN field. because the ppl who are LPN's they have been downgraded to lower status jobs, and lower pays, just because of their education go for the Bachelors degree and u'll be able to go for practically anything. No one can actually tell u wat to go for, just search your heart. i think nurses are good ppl.

Other Answers:
No school would accept life/work experience as course credit. At least none that I have seen. If you already work in a nursing home, and you like it, Gerontological nursing might be an idea. But as a registered nurse you can work anywhere.

My best suggestion would be to get your bachelor's degree in nursing. If you haven't been in school for a while, it may sound like the most outlandish thing you've heard. But look at it this way, BSN programs generally do not have waiting lists and some BSN programs can actually be SHORTER than diploma or associate programs. Then when you go for your master's, you won't have to worry about the BSN. Believe me, you never stop educating as a nurse.

In a few years when you have your BSN, you'll be glad you did.
