Period pain- extreme..HELP!?

Question:
I am 14,am not sexually active excersize, and eat healthy. and I have been having extreme pain w/ my period. I have had it for like 2 yrs. Every time I get it, I get sick, feel like I am gonna puke unbarable back pain, "curl up in a ball" stomach pain. Whenever I get it I am out of school for the whole thing and am in bed unable to keep anything- the only thing that doesnt make me puke is water. The pain meds the doc gave me r not working, and the past 2-3 times I have had my period, I passed out a few times from the pain. Any advice will help!

Answers:
I used to have extremely bad cramps when I was your age. They became more bearable as the years passed. Due to advice from my mom, I started to take calcium pills when I was 16 and the pain basically went away (not that I don't have my days). I used to have to stay home during my early teenage years. Now, I don't. It sounds like you are getting migraines along with your period. I do too. Just put a cold compress on your forehead, a warm compress on your lower belly, heating pad on your back (Icy Hot patch works wonders), saltine crackers at your bedside, and drink plenty of fluids (water, ginger ale, and fruit juice usually do the trick). It will pass. Ask your mom to purchase calcium pills (I usually take them daily during the week before my period is scheduled to start). Trust me, it will get better.

P.S. - My mom had the same trouble as a teenager and birth control pills subsided the pain. You don't have to be sexually active to use the pill. It somehow regulates things. Talk to your mom and doctor.

Not sure what kind of dr you have seen -- please go see an OB/GYN specialist for help. They may be more help than either a pediatrician or family dr.
to be honest.. my girlfriend had the same problems and they put her on Birth Control and it seems to be helping alot ask your doctor about it.. I dont know if it will work but it seems to work for her. Just trying to help!
oh my gosh. that sounds extremely painful. this might sound a litle to obvisous but have you tried ibuprofen?? i know that works for me but i dont have as near as much pain as you explained. and if that doesnt work try a different doctor see what he says. this will sound scary but it might not just be your period, something may be wrong when you have your periods and that might br causing the pain. i hope you get to feeling better!!
my niece has the same problem , and I told her to change her eating habits . it is my understanding when a woman has her PMS she looses lots of vitamins and minerals and she needs to replenish`em
that sounds really bad, i'm sorry. try using a heating pad to ease pain, and when your in a bad mood, its more painful. try to cheer yourself up by putting bright things like flowers in the room with you. keep yourself on those pain meds, some of them take a while to work. if nothing works, go to a different doctor. hope i could help1
I had this problem at 14 as well! My doctor put me on birth control to regulate my hormones, and I went from severe pain to barely even getting cramps. Almost 10 years later, I still rely on the pill to keep me pain free. Don't be frightened by the thought of being on birth control; it is not prescribed strictly for sexually active people that do not wish to concieve. :)
Good luck and feel better!!
I used to get that way! I would see an OB and have a good exam and maybe try the Birth control pill. That helped me tremendously.
You need a new doctor. Have you been tested for endimitriosis? Ovarian cysts? Cancer? There's a lot of home remedies like hot water bottles and such, but this sounds serious. You might want to try birth control pills, also anaprox works well. Good luck and hope you feel better.
Hi, I know exactly what you mean, I have the same problem. Some months go buy and its OK but usually I have huge stomach and leg cramps and feel like I can't go on like that. I even went home from school early a few days cause my stomach was driving me crazy. To help this I've been doing exercises like stretches and it helps. You should also take Midol teen medicine to relieve to pain and reduce bloating. Take the the Midol teen before you get your period. Feel Better and good luck!
The week before you're going to have your period, don't eat any salt--it makes you retain water.

Then the day you have your period, as soon as you know it's happening (or if you're very regular- the day you know it will happen) take an aspirin (not a tylenol, a regular old fashioned aspirin). It kicks in chemically some way to stop the pain from getting worse if you take it right at the beginning.

When it starts for real, drink Dr. Pepper, the only food you should eat is simple starches, not anything greasy. And rest if it's possible.

I had it bad like you, one time I even fainted at school. My mom took me to a doctor who prescibed birth control pills for the hormones in them, didn't work at all. Another time I went to meet my (then) fiance's parents and my period started. As a treat for me, my (now) father in law made fried eggs and bacon for breakfast. We went out doing things and I got sick in the restroom, then had to go back to their house and lay in bed sick as a dog!

Nothing like barfing to impress people! :)
Sweetie, you sound like me and my first two years of my period. My pain was so extreme that I would have to come home from school. I tried everything from exercise, to hot water bottles, to hot baths, to Midol to Pamprin.and even pain medication like you that my doctor prescribed. I would curl up in a ball and just rock back and forth to wait for a break in the pain. I finally told my mom I needed to go see a Gynecologist. Even though I was not sexually active either, she put me on the pill to help regulate my period. It was like a God send. My periods were lighter and the pain finally went to where I could easily tolerate it. To this day, I am grateful that I went to see the doctor. You should go see one too. You do not need to suffer like that. Good luck and if I can help, e-mail me!!
