Can I get a doctors paper stating that my eyes are sensitive to light so I can tint my front windshield?

Question:
Even with my sunglasses on, it's still bright when driving when sunny. The sunglasses are used only to protect the UV rays, but it doesn't cut down on any glare at all to my eyes. I have Maui Jim sunglasses, used to use Oakleys. I haven't found any sunglasses out there that has a deeply dark lens, which would be great. But other than that, would it be possible to get a doctors note so when a cop does stop me, I am fully legal because of my condition?

Answers:
This is an interesting question and I wish I knew the answer.
I'm sorry I do not but I had to write in to say that an optometrist (O.D.) is a doctor of optometry - not a doctor of medicine (M.D.) so not a medical doctor - but can make medical diagnosis! We can even bill and code for medical problems (gasp)! Trust me, it's not just 4 years of optometry school after college to learn how to Rx glasses and contact lenses.
I think you're going to have to contact your optometrist or ophthalmologist to see if they know or if they know who you can contact to find the answer you are looking for.
Good luck

I don't see why not...
No, they will prescribe glasses.
You will drive between rangers and show this paper to every one stops you. Good Luck
Yeah, sure. You wouldn't be asking this question of us morons if you had a doctor to ask. So, it's obvious that you dont have an eye condition and are trying figure out how to get a fake document to show to cops.

How long have you been trafficking in drugs, Fly? (Or using them?)
not likely try welding glasses they cover more
IF you have a condition. You would need to see an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. An opthalmologist is a medical doctor and the only one who can make the diagnosis.

Keep trying to find better shades.
No, except a band at the top if local law allows it.

Besides, an intelligent person would wear sunglasses, and not tint a window.
Do you have some reason to believe that the law in your state authorizes something like what you want to do? I somehow doubt it. Blind people can't get a doctor's note that authorizes them to drive if they have a seeing eye dog in the car; I don't think you can get a doctor's note saying you can have an illegal tint to cut down glare. BTW, a tinted windshield not only cuts down glare, it also cuts down your ability to see outside the car, which most drivers consider important since it helps them to avoid bumping into to things.

If you have a serious visual impairment, it's questionable whether you should be driving at all. What you should get is a doctors opinion whether you are capable of driving. If you have an accident because you can't see, you're likely to end up in jail if you know or should have known that you are visually impaired. And if the doctor says you shouldn't be driving, you'll be the coolest looking guy on the bus wearing those Maui Jim sunglasses.
