from what I know of hypnosis (which is very little) it is very hard to impossible to hypnotise someone who doesn't believe in hypnosis or want to be hypnotised. I think that trying hypnosis on someone not in your immediate proximity, would make hypnosis even more difficult.

Oh that study needs to be remembered more. Freud in 1889 worked with Liébault and Bernheim on hypnosis studies
It was in the scientific thought a lot at that time and Freud used it to learn more about mental illness. Its all about how we let our mind go. I suggest you study Freud. He is too easily brushed over on many of his ideas of the brain functions.
