Metabolism questions...? Please read?

Question: I had my thyroid removed a month ago. and I am going to start my thyroid replacement pills soon. I was told without my thyroid, I have no metabolism produsing in my body and that I will gain weight.I am already gaining some. My questions are... Is there are away to get a high metabolism when you have no thyroid? and second, the thyroid pills I am given will they contain enough metabolism to keep me in good weight? Or should I start worring now? Are there other pills that will give me my high metabolism back?

Answers:
The thyroid medication will give the metabolism back if it's in the right dose. I tested the blood level of my medication every other month to begin with so that the doctor could balance my medication to the needed level.
