Well a lot of boys and girls have girlfriends/boyfriends. There really isnt a set age that you can call someone your boyfriend, but in my opinion and with my daughters they are not allowed to date until they are 16.
In all honesty, dating or "courtship" is a practice used to find a suitable "mate" or marriage partner...at least it used to be.

Are you old enough to mentally, emotionally handle that sort of commitment? When you are, then date away!
you can be any age and have a boyfriend really but your mom and dad have a lot to do with who you date if you are under the age of 16 years old...i did not start to date until i was 17 years old but i found the right man and now i am 21 and we are still together and gettin married...
Child playing around like stuff should start at 9 or 10
Puppy love should start around 14 or 15
You can be any age to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. I was 5 with my "first" girlfriend. Of course, my grandmother would walk me to visit her as she was lots older than I - like 20. Back then, it was fun to visit. Now, it would be a different story as I am lots older. If you are in your preteens or teens, then curiosity about the opposite sex is normal and can be fun and exciting. However, taken to extreme as in having sex is entirely another matter. That would depend on your maturity and ability to accept responsibility for your actions. Same for the boyfriend. For young teens, group dates is often better that single dating because of the safety in numbers. Having to ask the question means to me that you're too young for exclusive one on one relationship and having just one guy in your life. And since you asked, wait a couple of years and learn more about relationships and what it means to you.
