What does this dream mean?

Question:
I had one dream as a child repeatedly, in fact its so strong I remember it to this day and sometimes still have it. I was thinking one of you might be able to interpret it. I am a kid about 6 years old, I look out the big picture window in the living room and look down my childhood street to the left and everything looks fine but nobody's outside and as I look to the right down the street everything starts going in slow motion I see an army tank driving down the cross street by the corner church, the tank stops and its gun turret starts slowly turning towards me. When it finally aims right for me it stops! I always wake up here not knowing wether it went off or not? Please help me curb a 20 year curiousity with this dream. Is this normal to have the same dream constantly? I used to have this dream everyday untell I was about 12 and now I get it two or three times a year. Thanks everyone

Wow, I don't know! I'm not a psychologist. Did anything in your life happen to you that has anything to do with the dream, anything related to tanks and guns? Do you have any bad memories associated with churches? Maybe it's just a fear of death by violence, or a feeling of intense helplessness.

Tell me if this sounds right at all: You sometimes feel helpless. You fear losing control, and not being able to stop things like death, violence, or sickness. Maybe you feel let down by things/people in your life that should have been a safe refuge (the church). Basically, I think the overall point of this dream is helplessness, and overwhelmed by the fact that you cannot control reality, there is no justice/fairness in life, etcetc.

Haha, not sure if that's at all close... I could just be projecting my own feelings into this dream.

Tell me what you think, or just say hello. My email is "saturnine UNDERSCORE inch AT yahoo DOT com".

Good luck. Take care.

PS: *edit* OH and... LOSING THE FUTURE... is this a fear of yours? It's certainly a fear of mine. The fear that someone could take away your entire future with such ease, such simplicity.

I just had a dream workshop and something the instructor said helped me with a dream. Close you eyes and relax and pick something in your dream (let's say in yours the tank) and imagine you know what the tank is feeling. It doesn't matter than in reality the tank doesn't feel anything-just see what comes into your head.
This worked for me.
She also said when you have recurring dreams it is something ususally from you unconscious mind trying to tell you something.
Hope this helps!
Let me analyze this dream

empty street = direction in life
tank = force, pressure from high authority
slow motion = let you see it think clear

Maybe you feel emptied in your life, and there is a hidden force or pressure from high authority such as teacher, boss or parents. They may have said something to you and lurked into your subconscious mind and perhaps you feel so confused or stressed. You projected that in your dream and vent it out.
You are trying to think clear quite often in life as it is slow motion in the dream

I could be wrong, but that is how I see from your dream
