Traumatic Brain Injury?

Question:
I was hit by a car in May of 2003. I suffered a handful of broken bones and a terrible sprain and leisures to my spleen and liver. I guess I have a lot of questions about permanent brain damage.I injured both my left and right frontal lobes and i had something called brain sheer. I am just wondering if I will able to live a "normal" life. I did very very well in school when I was going and I'm considered to be smart, but by all means I'm not all that intelligent. How common are brain injuries? What are the usual affects following the initial damage? Does anyone here have a close family member or a friend with a TBI..I have a twin, she saw me get hit by the car, so things are still messed up with my family and I, even though ti's been three years. And I'm wondering if I'll always be so fatigued..?

First of all many of your questions can be answered if you have some neuropsychological testing done. A Neuropsychologist is a Psychologist that specializes in brain disorders. They use various standardized tests to measure such things as memory function, cognitive abilities, learning capabilites, and can give a fairly accurate prognosis of TBI after a significant injury.

You alos may consider a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician and medical team. They may be able to help you tremendously.
