why dont you go to a medical website for the answers, we arent medical doctors? It has basically the same effect, its hard on blood pressure and your heart . I doubt that lots of water will help. Dont let anyone tell you anything is safe just because its natural. after all many poisons are totally natural and will make you totally dead.
Pseudoephedrine is what is called an alpha-adrenergic agonist. It serves it's function as a 'mimic' for norepinephrine, which allows it to constrict blood vessels in the nose and sinuses that are responsible for nasal congestion. Because of it's effect on blood vessels, a side effect is increased blood pressure.
Epehdrine is a non-specific, direct and indirect alpha and beta adrenergic agonist. The alpha effects cause vessel constriction and increased blood pressure, while the beta effects cause increased heart rate and contraction force, increased muscle blood flow, and increased fat mobilization. It is used to lose weight because it increases the bodies "energy demand," and also causes the body to convert chemical energy into heat.
Both pseudoephedrine and ephedrine are adrenergic stimulants, but ephedrine has MANY more effects on the body because it is much less specific than pseudoephedrine, which only targets blood vessels.
Drinking lots of water will NOT suppress the effects of a drug like these. In fact, drinking a lot of water can precipitate life threatening volume overload and solute disturbances which by themselves can kill you. If you suspect you took too much or experience any adverse effects you should go to your local ER.
