how does a guide dog know where the owner wants to go?

Question:
he might want to go to tesco and the dog might take him to the library.

Answers:
well the dogs aren't necesarily trained that way..the owner has to know where they want to go and how to get there...you just don't say to the dog "ok take me to the burger king down town" the owner has to know where to turn where to catch the bus....the dogs job is to protect the owner from harm...when the blind person wants to cross the street they don't know when the car is coming but the dog does and the dog will not cross the street if there is a car coming...the dogs are also there to prevent the person from running into things....It's possible for the dogs to pick up the route but you can't always rely on the dog to get you every where..you have to know where you're going..
Well if its David Blunkets.......
