I have had a bump behind my ears for a couple years and they have never caused any pain?

Question:
Why are these bumps there and should I be worried

Answers:
You're lymph nodes are part of your lymphatic system, it is, in a nutshell the first line of your immune system's defense. If your body is fight a contagin that's where it will start. If they're swollen that just means they're hard at work. While swollen lymph nodes do mean your fighting something It doesn't always mean your fighting something serious. 97% of the time you're fighting some regular bacteria found that entered your body via a cut or your mouth or through your skin or whereever.
Not to be an alarmist, but, if it is something serious your lymph nodes would mostly like swell. major bacterial infections and cancers spread to your lymph nodes and subsequently get surgically removed. (you have lymph nodes all over you body, in your armpts, behind your knees, in your chest, in a few locations in your head)
I wouldn't worry too much .. in all likely hood you'll be totally fine, swollen nodes are normally evidence of a healthy functioning immune system.
It sounds like it could be a gland, but more like a cyst. If it is a cyst then its not too much to worry about it is just annoying. I think you should go to the doc and let him/her check it out.
