do you have scoliosis?, if sohow do you cope?
Question:
Answers:
I have had scooliosis all my life. Never got it treated. So far, knock on wood, it hasn't affected me.
if you can, get it treated because extreme cases can lead to "hunchback" like traits.
I don't have that, but that is because I try to walk with my shoulders straight and sleep correctly.
Keeping your chest muscles strong (by doing pushups or bench pressing) will help keep your posture firm.

my daughter (16) does. two years ago, she had a titanium rod put on each side of her spine and her vertebrae were fused together. it has been a painful process, but she is glad we went ahead with that plan of action. she just started physical therapy and it is helping with the scar tissue. she had a 65 degree curve that developed within about 8 months.
i also have it, but not to that degree. i wish i would have spent more time strengthening my back and working on my posture when i was younger. i spend a lot of time with my chiropractor and try to sit up straight. it isn't too noticeable right now. as i age further, i am sure it will be more painful and i will have a slouch or hump. :(
yes i do.
i walk alot and drink lots of liquids.
and i see a chirpractor when i must.
i need to replace my old beat up mattress but can't seem to find the money.
at least i am not painting 40 foot tall or better houses any longer.
then i was really keeping my chiropracter busy.
i would never consider back surgery, given the experiences i have known most others to have with them
i have a mild situation of Scoliosis in my lumbar vertibrae. i never sought treatment or any sort of surigical repair. i do have back pain often, but i do not connect such pain striclty because of my scoliosis. it may be a factor but i do not feel that i would have no or less back pain if i did not have scoliosis. whenever i have any spinal ailments, due to heavy lifting or any strenuous activities, i have an inversion rack to relieve the stress on my spine. so far, i am very pleased with the relieve overall. give it a try if you are fit enought to mount and dismount from an inversion rack or inversion table. if you do not find a solution there, search for a good chiropractor. best of luck to your relief.
I am a 65 ye. old woman who has lived with scoliosis since age 15. I was operated on and in a body cast when I was 15.
I have no back pain or problems except some disfigurement.
I figure it this way.....if you don't like me because of my disfigurement, then you're not worth being my friend anyway.
There are other problems in your life that will be much more important than this.
