I have just been told that I have shingles, should I keep clear of my daughter who is pregnant?

Question:

Answers:
For the time being the answer is most definately yes. I came into contact with somebody who had shingles while I was pregnant and the course of action that I had to follow even though I had already had chicken pox as a child was to have a blood test to check my level of immunity against the disease. Even if you have had chicken pox sometimes for various reasons your level of immunity isn't great. Once she has had this blood test you will both know either way if it is safe to have contact before your shingles have cleared up. If you have already had contact with her during the incubbation period, (i think this is about 2 weeks) please get her to go and see her GP or midwife anyway, and don't worry i'm sure it will be fine :-)
YES. Chickenpox can be very harmful for pregnant woman & the baby.
please speak to your doc or get her to ask her midwife if you are unsure.
