Will I fail my drug test?

Question:
I took a valium because I was nervous before an interview. I got the job, and I have to take a drug test in 2 days... a total of 3 days after I took the valium. Will this cause me to fail a drug test for employment, or are they just looking for pot etc?

Answers:
This will not cause you to fail because they are looking for illegal substances, however it WILL show up in your test results, and you may be required to show proof of a prescription for the medication in your name.
AS for kinipoo's answer, I don't know where you live, but in NY state it is illegal to ask a person what medications they are taking prior to a drug test, it violates the persons privacy.

Other Answers:
They will ask you before the test if you are on any medication or if you have taken any cough medicine in the last 24 hours. Tell them you took some volume. It will be OK. When/if it shows up you can tell your interviewer in the last interview why it was there if they question you.
I don't know about the time frame, but if you've got a prescription for the valium then take it with you when you take the drug test.
Was it your valium? If you can prove it was you are ok, if not then youd better keep on looking
You wont' fail if the valium is prescribed (tell them) other wise if you have it illegally then yeah you'll probably pop positive!
Typically they are looking for just pot. After 3 days though, the valium should be out of your system. Go get a bottle of cranberry juice mix it 60/40 with water and flush out your system just to be safe. Take the test tomorrow or whatever.
if i new i would reall y tell you but i dont think you will fail
you"ll pass it should be out of your system....
Don't worry be happy.
I'm pretty sure they just look for illegal drugs. They typically ask if you are on any subscription meds when you take the test-- if you were asked, I hope you told them you were prescribed valium. I think they just ask, though, because some perscription drugs will trigger a false positive for illegal substances. Let's hope valium isn't one of them!
They will be checking for all drugs. If it is not a prescribed medication for you, and you didnt list it as a medication you are currently taking, you will fail. Better to be nervous, than to have drugs in your system.
I think they're looking for illegal drugs in your system or else they would have to fire most of their current staff for doping.
As for drug tests at work, what a load of crap. I wouldn't have even bothered taking the job seeing in return you lose a part of your privacy. But that's your prerogative.
You will do fine. A valium will not show up.
Valium won't show up at all in a pre-employment drug screen, and even if it did, it's not an illegal drug. Besides, your medical records are protected by law, so you can tell them you have a prescription for it and they have to take your word for it. You'll be fine.
you straight...relax!
I think pot stays in the system for about two weeks, after one joint, that is. Chronic users should stay away from all drugs for at least a month before drug tests. You may be hanging on a wire.
When you go to the clinic & fill out the forms, be sure to list the drugs that you have taken in the previous days. Honesty and legitimate drugs won't keep you from not being hired.

They're looking for pot, coke, all the illegal substances but the other drugs can & do show up in your system & print out on the results. Be sure to tell them what you took.
If they are testing for these particular metabolites and you don't have a prescription,I've got bad news. The likely hood that they'll detect it is pretty good. But it does depend on their testing procedures. There are some things available from health food stores and even head shops that are supposed to clean some of these things out of your system.Start making phone calls and rinking lots of water,It can't hurt.Start now.
If valium is a medication that's been legitimately prescribed by your doctor, then I wouldn't worry.

Employers are more focused on the ILLEGAL stuff, like pot and hardcore drugs.
They look for weed and opiates, from what I understand. Anyway, if they find something wrong, they will call you (meaning the lab that has done the test). You simply tell them what you told us. Hopefully you obtained the drug from a doc so you can tell them who prescribed it. Good luck and try not to make yourself sick stressing out. (yeah, I know that's easy to say, but hard to do)

Btw, I'm pretty sure valium passes out of your system within the amount of time you are talking about anyway.
Yes.
so many things can cause a false positive. I know someone who took a sudefed because of allergies and it showed a false possitive for anphedamines.its best not to take anything
