Are there any dangers of working the graveyard shift?

Question:
I have been working a shift that starts at 10:30 pm and ends at 6:30 am and have been doing it for 2 years now. I am kinda worried of the physical effects it has on my body or any psychological ones. Since I have been doing it for so long I do sleep a lot more than I did when I worked days, I always get enough sleep but I sometimes just feel tired all the time.

Answers:
Working the graveyard shift will certainly do that to a person. I know because I've done it a lot over my years as a nurse. You will always feel tired when you do this shift. Especially if you try to sleep at normal night time hours on your days off. I've had people tell me to flip my days and nights and make it that way all the time even on my days off. That was just impossible. So I stayed tired all the time. The stress of all of the fatigue can eventually make you sick physically. Keep yourself on a good diet, take vitamins, and look for another job with normal hours if it gets too bad. Good luck.
Welcome to the crowd, I left graveyard 4 yrs ago and still cant get a day time routine worked out to fit me,
