My sister wants to major in sports medicine in college?

Question:
does anyone know how many years it takes to major in this

Answers:
You certainly could major in it, as a sort of personal trainer.. But if she wants to be the big boss.. then she'll have to go to medical school.

That would be 4 years undergrad, 4 years med school, 3-5 years residency +/- 1 for fellowship in sports medicine.

Other Answers:
my best girlfriend is a sports medicine major, and she got her bachelor's degree in 4 years, just like any other bachelor's degree.
depends. have her talk to the college of her choice about it.
Sports medicine can be a 4-8 yr major, depending on if she decided to go further and pick a specialty like orthopedic surgery with sports medicine as her minor. My son wants to major in sports meds and I suggested for him to specialize in orthopedic surgery as well, more opportunity.
Sports Medicine is a fairly vague term

Related careers range from Physicians specializing in orthopedics or physiatry, to Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers, to Personal Trainers and Exercise Instructors.

Therefore, the amount of schooling necessary depends greatly depending on her career goal.
