Well you need to find out your Company's policy on FMLA (Family Medical Leave) and MMLA (Minimum Medical Leave). Some companies require you to be in your job for a certain period of time before you can qualify. FMLA protects you from losing your job. I would talk with your HR director and see what is available to you. STD and LTD is an option to allow you to be paid if you are going to be off for a while. FMLA allows you to miss up to 14 weeks in a calendar year but not lose your job, but you will not be paid.

Most employers will allow you to take Medical leave without pay. If you were injured at Walmart and they are paying your medical bills you can see if they will also pay living expenses during your recovery. However, I do not know how likely this is.
I dont think we have enough information. Do you WORK at Walmart? If you do then this is not a disability claim but a Workman's Compensation claim...and they pay for you to be out of work.
If you just were shopping and it was their fault that you fell....I am not sure. You would not qualify for Social Security Disability because you have to be disabled for at least 12 months....

Hi! God ! I thought living in Britain was naff till I read this... Come to Britian - as soon as you mention the word " Stress" to your Free NHS Doctor.. you can have all the time off you want to skive off on Holiday.. hell! you can even sue the company for them making you stressed..

You should have made Walmart pay you for time off work. I would go back and ask Why they are not paying. You must have agreed on them paying medical bills only. I hope you didn't pay an attorney for this?
If you agreed and signed papers, don't bother. You are stuck with nothing. You wouldn't receive assistance before you returned to work. You could make some calls. All they can do is turn you down.
I was in a similar situation. I got sick with IBS and cancer and I failed to sign up for disability at work. So when I ran out of sick and vacation time, I made up a couple of dead relatives but that didn't help much. Then I lost my apartment and became homeless. I got depressed and stayed homeless for 3 years until my Social Security Disability went through. They gave me $40,000 for 3 years back pay and I bought a house where I'm living happily ever after. I sincerely hope you have better luck. Unfortunately, they don't have programs to help people in our situation. One suggestion is, you could ask your local churches to help pay your rent and utilities. They have programs just for such situations and you don't have to be a member.
