Why do I never feel hungry?
Question:
The problem is, I can never tell when I am hungry. It's been a pretty long time since I've actually felt any inclination of hunger. I mean, I eat, it's not like I'm anorexic.
I've been trying to lose weight the past few weeks, and I've kind of been trying to eat less. There were some days that I only eat a bagel, or something.
The thing is, I only realize that I need to eat when I am on the verge of feeling very dizzy and light-headed. About a week ago, I was at the mall, and I was walking and I suddenly got this really bad feeling, like I couldn't keep walking. I remembered that I hadn't eaten in a pretty long time, so I went and got a large order of pretzel bites from Pretzel Time. It was the closest food venue. I felt sick after I ate them.
I don't know, is hunger loss a problem? Is it a symptom of something? Is this something wrong?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

these are not good things. I am not a doctor, but common sense tells me that there is some sort of eating disorder that is comming about.
depriving yourself of food is a very bad thing to allow yourself to do. Eventually (and i've known from other friends going through this) your body begins to adapt to that kind of non habitual food intake. after the body adapts, eating things you once had can have really bad consequences like your pretzel for instance (caren Carpenter had gone down the road of anorexia, but she didn't die until after she made the decision to change those habits. the shock of the regular food she began to eat is what did her in, not the anorexia.)
I'm not trying to scare you, but i think if the appetites continue to not come and you find yourself losing a lot of wieght rapidly, see a doctor. It's always best to consult a professional on these matters, than to ask on message boards. It can't hurt
Hmmm - well, definitely sounds like a legitimate concern. That being said, I think some people just don't get hungry. I know that's the way it is for my dad - he's an engineer, and sometimes when he gets really into his work he'll forget everything else, and if we don't remind him to eat he'll get skinny. He only really eats one meal a day - a big one, to cover everything - so he doesn't have to think about eating. That all works for him, and he's fine. So, maybe it's just the way you are, and you'll just have to keep nutrition in mind throughout your life, because your body won't remind you for you.
BUT, if it's something more than that - like eating makes you feel sick, or your lack of hunger is more like a constant uneasy feeling that makes food unappetizing - that's something you might want to see a doctor about. I've been through that situation, so if that sounds like what you're going through, feel free to shoot me questions. In any case, good luck - I hope you're okay!
