How do I make myself sleep during the day?? Help!?

Question:
I started a job a couple of months ago working third shift. Even after months I can't make myself sleep during the day. I will pass out from sheer exhaustion and sleep for only a few hours before I wake up. It's been 2 months now and for weeks I've been delirious and just plain goofy b/c I'm so tired. I can't even think straight. Oh, and I can't take sleeping pills.

Answers:
Try covering up all your windows so no light what so ever gets in. Then drink some chamomile tea with some honey in it. Or drink some warmed up milk. Play some soft music to relax by. I hope this helps you.

Other Answers:
just dont sleepand just play

Just close your eyes. Do not sleep as soon as you get home, delay it so that it is like an extended nap.
Try to simulate night atmosphere, darken the rooms with curtains/blach outs, use eye sheilds and if you can not control the noise, ear plugs.
This is not very healthy, though.

Don't go to bed as soon as you get home. Stay up until about 2pm and sleep until 8 or 9. Many third shifters hit the sack at 7 and that's not right. Do you go straight ot bed at 4pm when you work days? Also, fall asleep to noise - put your TV on sleep timer. I found that If I fell asleep to noise, I was less likely to be awakened by noise. Turn your phone off.

I worked third shift for almost 10 years. It took me a couple months to get into the groove, but it happened. Now, 10 years later, I still hate working days.

Good luck.

a glass of cold non fat milk before going to bed can get you a good sleep.
