I have seen pictures of gruesome murders/suicide. Are RL deaths horrible to see?

Is the death of a person incredibly horrific in real life? Is it Surreal?

I have been in attendance for over 500 deaths. They are many things. Tragic, wasteful, sad, ironic, dramatic, violent, messy, horrific, a relief, even (occasionally) funny. Death is simply a part of life. Everything that lives, dies. Having seen so much death, I can tell you that the circumstance of death is exactly like the circumstance of life. Humans are unique in that we are aware of our own impending demise. There is a vicarious thrill seeing the death of others.

It's awful to see them in videos and pictures. But it is SO much worse in person. It's almost hard to describe.
My mother died while I was holding her hand. She slowly stopped breathing and then just died. While it was traumatic for me to lose her, it was a peaceful death. Not violent or horrible at all. Just quiet. Don't forget that not all people who die are murdered or commit suicide. There's people who die in their sleep from old age. or people who die from carbon monoxide poisoning. It seems like so many people die from unnatural causes, but that's not always the case. It's disturbing and sick to see the gruesome deaths, but just hope and pray that those people didn't feel any pain and went quickly and they're in a better place somewhere.
That depends largely on the manner of death. Standing next to your Grandmother or Mother as they pass from old age is not horrific. Its not fun by any means. Its more of a Zen like experience, you find yourself looking down on it from the outside, as your mind struggles to cope with the possibility of nonexistence and seperates itself from the situation.
Murders, gunshots, killings. these can be horrific. The more sudden a death is, the more shocking that death the harder it is for your mind to get a grasp on the fact that this was a person, now they are gone, and they are never coming back.
I remember seeing a video of some executions in China, during a regime change. The forced this man to his knees, and shot him in the forehead. He simply went limp. That was shocking for me, to imagine being that man. To face the end eye to eye, and to know that it was not a natural end. To know that things left unaccomplished would simply never be.
That was horrific. I also remember watching Schindler's List. and some of the more gruesome death scenes there. Also horrific.
It is possible however that it is not the death, not the going away that bothers us. And perhaps it isn't even the permanency, but rather it is the cruelty that can be found in the hearts of some. A darkness so incomprehensibly complete that they would take another life by murder. A chilling thought to be sure.

we are left with a fake logic that we are all OK here so when call to draft then we see what is already around us in your hometown stores and streets. the killing of our friends and family's!
