Chlorine Inhilation?

Question:
I accidentally mixed chlorine bleach with another cleaner and inhaled the fumes. My throat is sore for the past two days. Is this a typical symptom of the chlorine inhilation and will it pass with time?

Answers:
You can get something called chemical pneumonia from breathing chlorine fumes. The chlorine gas when it mixes with the moisture in your lungs creates hydrochloric acid and causes your lungs to secrete fluid, thus causing the pneumonia. I am talking a pretty severe exposure here. The sore throat is from a mild acid exposure and should pass. If you start coughing alot, I would go to a medical doctor and tell them what happened

Other Answers:
yes, you have a chemical burn. How are your lungs? You 'may' want to go to the doctors to make sure it isn't severe enough to cause any blistering or open wounds that may lead to an infection.

Yes it it typical with chlorine fumes. You should go to a doctor to have everything checked out. The chemicals can cause permanent damage to your lungs. If your throat has been sore for 2 days you really should go to your family doctor.
