Weight issues..?

Question:
I am 16 years old and I am 5'4. Everyone always tells me I am so skinny, but I feel so big on the inside. I hate my body because and I feel like everyone is saying these things to make me feel better. I weighed myself and I am now 93 pounds. Help, what do I do?

Answers:
Honey, (for me, that sounds really weird because I'm only 17.) you are definitely not fat. I read some of your other questions, and I am definitely proud of you for recognizing that you have a problem (most girls are in denial.) Please, you know that something is wrong, and I trust that you are intelligent enough to find some sort of counselor or doctor to help you break the news to your parents because they definitely need to know. Those people will help you tell them the "right" way and give you the actual facts about being underweight and having bulimia. I took a health class last year, and I can tell you that bulimia not only robs your body of the proper nutrients, but also ruins your esophogus and wears down the enamel on your teeth (from the stomach acid.) Please, don't think that you are fat, and your friends would never lie to you. I know that it's really hard to feel comfortable in your skin when the world revolves around body image and weight, which is fueled by the media. Truthfully, only 2% of the population has the body type of super models and the skinny actors and actresses, and you would go insane if you knew what they have to do to keep their bodies that way. Nobody is perfect, and what you see on TV is digitally enhanced. I'm seriously not lying. Like I and many others have said, please talk to a counselor or a doctor, they will help you get onto the right path for a healthier lifestyle. I've been struggling with my weight (except on the opposite of you 5'3" and 180 lbs) for as long as I can remember, and I empathize with what you are feeling about being big. You are not big. You need to keep on telling yourself this. Don't convince yourself, make yourself realize this fact. Lot's of love and good luck. p.s. contact me if you just want to talk or anything.

Other Answers:
You definitely need to get some help. 5'4" and 93 lbs definitely is not a healthy weight. Much thinner and you could end up looking like you are starving to death. I would talk to a counselor. Aim for 100 lbs to begin with, but I think your goal weight should really be at least 115 - 120. Gain weight in a healthy way - eating fruits and vegetables, whole grains and exercising, not a whole lot at first, but gradually increase with your weight gain. Also, you probably feel so big on the inside because you might have so many feelings and emotions weighing you down. It's important to share the way you feel. Don't suppress who you are. I am sure you have many things to offer this world, including your own natural beauty. Seriously, though, talk to someone before your weight gets out of control and makes you truly ill.

IF YOU ARE 5'4 AND WEIGH 93LBS YOU ARE NOT FAT
