why do you yawn even if your not tired?

Question:
whenever I yawn, most people say,"you're tired?" and I am wide awake,so why do people yawn even if they are not tired?

Answers:
You are right, you do not have to be tired to have the urge to yawn.Sometimes you yawn because your body is a little low on oxygen. Yawning is a symptom of this. I don't know if it actually increases your body's oxygen supply. When this happens to me I find that a few deep breathes take care of the situation.

Lack of oxygen.
Yawning comes from a lack of oxygen.

yup sumtimes we do yawning forces more oxegen up to your brain. You may not feel tired but your mind is.

when oxygen decreases in the body you have to take in a larger amount of air. thats why you yawn.

You yawn simply because your brain lacks oxygen, regardless of how tired you are.

Yawning is the result of your brain sending a message to your lungs that it requires more oxygen to increase it's level of alertness. That's why sometimes one yawn will do it, or twenty may be needed! lack of oxygen - u need to take a break even if you aren't tired and do some stretching exercises .

You are not inflating your lungs properly when you breathe. So it is your body's way of getting more oxygen is to yawn, and by yawning you are taking in more oxygen than normal.

it is the lack of oxygen to your brain and when you yawn it gets more. Also, they can be contagious- when you see someone else yawning so do you - god knows why.

because your brain always need fresh oxygenated blood, the brain makes you yawn in order to inhale involuntarily Apparently, yawning can clue you in on how you're feeling - tired, sleepy, bored, and even stress. Yeah! Pretty amazing, huh?
