Other Answers:
It is called fear of the unknown.
Get to know God and study the bible and you will lose that fear.
because its so final, we fear it really is the end of our existence.
Folks that fear dying are fearing the unknown. Its a very simple thing really. Is there really a big god like creature/spirit thingy up there who is judging our every thought and action? that could inspire a bit of fear too if that is how you beleive. Accountability can be pretty scary to some folks.
not me, it will hapen to all of us, no way out of this one
I don't think it is the dying that is so frightening.but the thought of not knowing what lies ahead..The unknown.Afraid that we'll go to hell and not heaven. Maybe?
I fear dying because I hate the thought that I won't be with my kids any more and my life will come to a end one day. It is scary to me.
It is fear of the unknown. The presence of yourself is no longer there and the people around you are no longer there. People worry about whether or not they will be missed or if some will be happy they are gone. What will life be like without you around. Well (to me), death is a part of living. You may die but your soul doesn't and your soul lives on to learn and teach others. You can still visit those you left behind and have peace and happiness that you've never felt before.
You say 'we', so I can only suggest that you mean yourself, as it would be most impolite to speak for me. At 65, I can say with all honestly that I have no fear of death. I dislike the indignity that goes along with it, but passing away to whatever, has no fear for me. I have led a wonderful life and continue to do so and have no intention of dying for many, many years. I have grandchildren who have given me new life, I have my health and I still have the ability to play a very good round of golf each day. Life is good and worth living. (I do not wish to sound a Bible puncher, but I do believe in a life hereafter and honestly believe that I shall meet my friends and family there), A little poem follows that I wrote about the final minutes:
Tempus Fugit.
Tempus Fugit - or as you know - Time Flies,
Just ten minutes more, to say ones goodbyes.
To say all those things, not said in ones life,
But now ‘tis too late, when ones on that last flight.
To have told those you loved, how much you did love,
To ask for forgiveness from Him up above.
To have paid back those favours, ones had in ones years,
To have told those behind, not to shed any tears.
For mine was a good life, a happy one too,
And who do I thank, no one else only you.
You gave me your all, the best years of your life,
You gave me our children, I thank you - my wife.
To those who have liked me, I thank you my friends,
To those who did not, no time for amends,
So think of me kindly, just once in a while,
And whenever you do, do it with a smile.
So goodbye one and all, I wish you farewell,
‘Till we meet again, be it Heaven or Hell,
The game it is over, the last round has been played,
My final engagement – that the piper be paid.

I think all of us fear the unknown. But if you think about it how could we fear something we never experienced before? That's how I see it . It gives me great comfort to know that I will be with all the people who have gone before me, and that I will finally be embraced by the Lord.I really want to finally meet Saint Andrew he has always helped me when I needed him most.

I feel we really don't have a fear of dying, but actually two other combined fears. One is the fear of the unknown, and the other is the fear of losing what we currently possess in life. weather its material or a feeling of self worth.
Woody Allen once said "I am not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens." We pretend not to think about death and dying, but yet obsessed with is the inevitable. I think we fear dying because some of has yet to face living. Death means the end as we know it and we have yet to reconcile our complete belief in God or to questions we have not found answers. Until we are not afraid of living our lives, then we will always fear death.

there is no reason to fear death to Quote a kender "Dying is the next great adventure" plus once u die u dont have to worry about it anymore
It is not a fear of dying so much as a fear of the unknown. In all reality being dead is not so bad. there is no pain, time has no meaning. A second and an eternity are the same. it is like sleeping but you do not dream.
