why snort pain pills?

Question: why do people crush up and snort pain pills? Does it effect you different based on how you take it snort vs swallow? i am trying to get a better understanding of drug use and abuse. It seems that people do lots of strange things nowadays.

They snort them to get a quicker high. It bypasses the absorption and first pass effect of the liver. You don't have as much drug broken down by the liver and you get the high sensation quicker.

Oh, who knows. I find pain pills work best and last longest when I take them as my doctor prescribes, but I'm old fashioned, and clearly have no idea which end is up. I mean, I didn't even know that people use these things to have a good time (sarcasm).
