what causes this?
Question:
Answers:
ln some cases,it's genetic. But this is rare.
lt is more likely due to Riboflavin deficiency (vitamin B 12).A lack of this vitamin causes loss of patches and papillae and may give rise to what is called a ''geographic tongue''--so called because the lines on the tongue resemble maps cut onto the surface!
This has no clinical significance .
Adequate intake of B12 is healthy however,so get a B-complex supplement and tell the person to take 1 twice daily for 2 weeks.

if it does not effect your life and you can still eat and talk then it really doesn't matter too much.
This sounds like a lack of vitamins / minerals. Grab some fruit / veg / multi vits and see if that helps.
you are what you eat remember dr gillain had a programe on tv , got a book out tells you all the signs , plus tongues, cracks grooves cuts etc, all to do with diet what you eat ,
