My loud snoring wakes my wife but strangely it does not wake me up! Why don't snorers hear their own snores?

but i think that most of the time it doesnt wake uo the snorers because they are used to it so its like they dont hear it anymore

because the sound is projected out.Try wearing earplugs one night and see if it doesn't wake you up then.

I don't normally snore but when my nose is blocked and I snore it wakes me up because I'm not used to it and theres no one else in the room making that noise.
So your probably just used to it. tell her to prod you in the back and when you turn you'll stop snoring

you should see a sleep specialist. you may have sleep apnea. this is a life threatening condition. my husband snored for years, waking me and driving me crazy. he finally talked to a doctor about the snoring and other symptoms, that he thought unrelated. he found out that he has sleep apnea and it had gotten so bad that the dr said he could die if he is not treated right away. he now sleeps with a c-pap machine. very small, he has a little mask over his nose, he sleeps silently now. it is wonderful. there is also a surgery, but it is costly and not permanent. his apnea contributed to weight gain and high blood pressure. he had started to dose off at movies, while driving, etc. he had to consume large amounts of coffee to feel awake at work. his health has improved dramatically. he has been using the c-pap for about 3 years now. he feels so much better.
