What is craniosynostosis?

Question: I took my 4 month old baby to the doctor today for a well baby check up and like always he feels her soft spot on her head, and he made a weird face and I ask him if something was wrong and he said that he thought her soft spot had fused together. I need some information on this and some advice and information on the procedures to fix this. Please help really scared!!!!!!!!!!

i'm surprised your doctor didn't tell you more about it. please take my words with a grain of salt since i'm just a first year med student, but we learned about craniosyntosis, and it's supposed to be pre-mature fusing of the bones in a child'd skull. i don't recall reading anything that can be done about it. the good news is that, depending on which suture fused early, there's a good chance that there won't be any kind of impaired brain function.
