what should you do if you purchase food from a store and you find maggots in them?

My sister started crying when she found out she just drank maggots in her coaco. They were in every envlope and she had about 4 cups already.

Take your sister to the hospital, just to make sure she doesn't get some sort of parasite, etc. As for the store, you can report them and if you still have the packets, take them in and show them and get your money back.

I'd return the food to the store, write a nasty letter to the food company that made the coccoa, and complain to the local health department.
As for treating your daughter, aside from the trauma of being "grossed-out" she should be fine.

If you still have the box with the UPC code, call the company and tell them your problem. They will help you and sometimes send you coupons so you don't stir away from their business. You can also take the box with what is leftover to the store where you bought them, tell them what happen. If you have the receipt with you it will help the most. The most they will do is give you a refund. For future purchases check the expiration date or if the box is damage. Sorry to hear you had such a nasty experience.

Most likely, the store mgr. will pull the product and contact the manufacturing company as well. You will probably get calls from quality control etc. so be prepared. if you still have the box of hot cocoa with the maggots inside, go to the store and show the manager, try first to resolve the situation at the store, they might have some policies about how they conduct things in a situation like this..do it calm and polite, explain to him exactly what happened and don't forget to reminds him, there's charges for sell products with expiration's date expired.its actually illegal not only to sell products expired, but also put available to sell, even thou it didn't get sold.

You 'discreetly' inform the store manager or owner. They are not in the business of selling maggots. They will take charge and inform other stores also. All packages will be pulled, not just those in the one particular store. I'd also be asking myself how it is possible for the maggots to have survived being package for so long. They have died because of lack of oxygen.then too, if they did survive that, you'd have thought they'd have hatched by the time you opened the envelopes.
