From about 6 to 13 years of age. Your niece is prime age for diagnosis. Just take her to the doctor. It's pretty simple to diagnose.

Other Answers:
when i worked in an elementary school, they checked the sixth-graders. if you are concerned, i'm sure her school nurse would have a look. blessings.
sorry to hear, god bles, adn smile it will be better!
As soon as it's too late.
At our middle school, they screen children at grade 7. All of my girls were screened then. I would talk to her pediatrician before I did anything else. He can direct you to a specialist if need be.
Between 10-14. Females are 5 times more likely than males and can be diagnosed as early as 9 years old. This is accurate information.
I took my son to the doctor today for his annual physical, and they checked him for the first time for scoliosis. He's six years old. I know that here in TX, the schools have the nurses check for it in about the 6th grade (so about 12 yrs old). Good luck.
I'm not sure of a typical age but I remember them examining us for it at the start of junior high school, ages 12 and 13. If it seems like she has a visible problem then I would definitely say she should see a doctor, maybe they can correct it early.
Scoliosis can be diagnosed at a very young age. Her pediatrician should have already found the problem. If he has not seen a problem this far into her life I would get a second opinion. My family has had lots of problems with it running in our family. This needs to be checked out, soon. It can be fixed at a young age with no recourse.
as a scoliosis sufferer i can tell you the easiest way to check this.
now to diagnose this yourself with her parents.
get her to stand in front of you with her back towards you. now have her put her hands together as if praying then ask her to extend her arms and bend over keeping her hands together as if to touch her toes. arching her back, should reveal if she is showing the early signs of the problem.

if she is starting to show signs of scoliosis one shoulder will appear to be slightly higher than the other.

I hope she does not have scoliosis, as i am now soon to be 33 (in a few weeks) and since 1994 i have had several botched operations on my spine and i don't want anyone to suffer as i have.

the sooner she gets treatment the better, so that while her bones are still young and flexible (growing) a back brace, as uncomfortable as they are would be the best option.
only ever consider an operation in a worst case scenario such as when the curve is so pronounced that it is affecting her breathing.
