I sliced my foot open inside an H.E.B. grocery store due to their negligence, what do I do?

Question:
I was wearing flip flops. A steel strip that goes across the floor was pointing up with a rug covering it. The rug was off of it about 4 inches. I was walking pushing my basket. As I took another step my foot slid across and sliced the inside open. They did file an incident report. I have never sued anyone or had anything like this happen. Please help in what I need or should do.

Answers:
They should at least cover any medical charges you have to pay. Whether you sue or not is up to you. I personally feel too many people take advantage of situations for monitary gain. But, I think they should pay your medical bills, and reimburse you for any wages you may have lost if you were unable to work. You would need to consult a lawyer as to how to proceed if they have not contacted you with any offers

Other Answers:
If you need stitches-get them-tell the store manager you're getting them-and have them pay the bill if your insurance doesn't cover it. If you don't need stitches-then move on with your life.
i would got to the hosp and i would go back to the store take and pic and sue them for the hosp bills
did you sliced on your own without knowing if so you where in love
How up to date is your tetanus shots? Your going to need one. I wouldn't run right out and start a lawsuit. I would consult with the store manager and request assistance for any medical bills that you may have. Did you require stitches?
In the future, you should always look carefully where you put your feet when wearing flip-flops. One of the reasons we wear shoes outside is to protect our feet.
First of all, you should get a tetnus shot. Second of all, stitches if you need them. However, if the injury is minor and you didn't have to even see the doctor, your case would never stand up in court. And, if you did take this claim to court, the court would more than likely order that the grocery store pay your medical bills. You do not get big money unless you have a big injury
If you have filed an incident report, then you have started the right way. There are easier cheaper ways to do things than suing. If you are not covered for your trip to get stitches and treatment, the store should cover it. Suing is so ugly and time consuming!
