Q: My face has started turning red when I drink alcohol. I never had this problem until a year ago. What could be causing this?

There is an enzyme a majority of them are missing that does not allow their bodies to metabolize alcohol which causes this reaction. I cannot remember the term, but I read about it once on the internet.

A lot of people turn red when they drink. It's just a flush. Alcohol causes your blood to circulate differently. For instance, if you're cold and you drink brandy because it tastes "warm" you'll actually make yourself colder because of the effect of the alcohol on your body.
It could be more noticeable on Asians because their skin might be different. I'm not sure of all the exact physical differences between races. However I know a lot of light-skinned Irishmen who get red when drunk too.

i have not ever noticed that but that kind of a good question because then why do whit peoples faces not turn red.
