MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) uses magenetic and radio waves to make pictures of almost all the tissue in the body. They usually focus on hydrogen and the tissue that has the least hydrogen atoms (such as bones) turns out dark, while the tissue that has many hydrogen atoms (such as fatty tissue) looks much brighter. Some MRI scanners can focus on different elements e.g. phosporus.

CT scans (computer aided tomography) uses several different x-ray beams to build up a 2 dimensional picture of slices of your body.

MRI uses Magnetic waves to look at diffenet areas of the body and CT uses radioactive waves. Different dyes are used in both for more detail.
