Can a human become immune to poisons or venoms?

Question:

Answers:
yes you can. if you take a little every day (increasing dosage systematically) you can become immune. i watched a documentary on farmers in.. a foreign country.. who did this with their native snake venom so it wouldn't be fatal if they got bit.

sorry i don't know the exact science of it.

Other Answers:
if I remember correctly, you can build a resistance to certain things like snake venoms from being exposed to a small amount over time.
Yes, you can.
yes...actually....even you are immune to some diseases, not totally immune but the effect is small compared to other people...
Yes, but I wouldn't kill myself trying it out.
Actually...yes. You start at a small enough dose to have it take effect but not fatally. It can be a painful process. Eventually, your body develops antibodies to it so that next time, it's ready. The more times you do it with an increased dosage, the more antibodies your body produces for next time. Although, too much of any type of poison could kill you. And some venoms are so extreme...you can't easily build a tolerance because such a tiny amount could kill you. It's the basic principle behind a vaccine though. When they give you a small pox vaccine or a flu vaccine, they give you a few strands of the virus (usually dead). Your body learns to recoginize it as an invader and adjusts accordingly. Then, when you are exposed to the same viruses, you won't take ill.
