what do i do for a friend with bulimia?
Question:
Answers:
You don't mention how the recovery was achieved, but if neither of you has visited with any therapists, it may be a good idea. Bulimia a lot of times is a reaction to feeling out of control. This feeling could be triggered by an emotional issue that is un-resolved.
You say you are worried that she's starting it back up. Sit her down and tell her you feel that way and point blank ASK HER. "Are you purging?" Say, "You know it's bad for you." Ask "What are you going to do about getting help?"
Listen to her, help her as best you can, but a lot of times all you can do is be supportive and urge her to get professional help. Professionals must carry the burden if the issue is not easily resolved on her own.
Good Luck, she is lucky to have a friend that cares for her as much as you do. Be strong for her. The most help you can be is to confront her and guide her toward some help.
