Can any one, preferably a doctor tell me what is "hemangioma",how serious it is &what are the cures to it ?

My baby is 3 months of age and she is having a swollen mark on her shoulder which is slightly swollen and looks like blood clot, but the visiting doctor told that it is hemangioma and she should be shown to a surgeon. The area is slightly bruised due to scratching of nail. Let me know how serious it is and what are the favourable cures as well as side effects. Thanks

Treatments vary. Sometimes they can be drained, other times they have to be surgically excised. All depends on how deep the hemangioma goes. You should take her to a pediatrician who can send her for further testing. It's not that serious, but you should get it taken care of before it gets larger.
Never go to a DR who doesn't fully explain a diagnosis. That is the worst kind of physician.
