How do I find out if mold or mildew in my house is what is making my son and me sick?

MY LAUNDRY ROOM SMEELS REAL STRONG OF MILDEW. I DON'T LEAVE SOURED CLOTHES IN THERE, I LEAVE THE TOP TO THE WASHER OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT IN USE. MY PLANTS IN THE KITCHEN HAVE MOLD GROWING ON THE POTS, NOT THE PLANTS. MY SON AND I HAVE BEEN SICK FOR OVER A MONTH NOW, AND I'M CONCERNED THAT THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING IT. ALSO, WE LIVE IN AN APT. SO HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT GETTING IT TAKEN CARE OF THROUGH THE APTS.? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allergic tests for mold will help with the question of making both of your sick but as far as getting the landlord to help with the moisture problem is questionable - I would mention the problem with the moisture and tell him that it will eventually rot the carpet, floors, cabinets, walls, etc.!@
