Depends on what he's smoking in it. If it's tobacco, it's no more harmful than a cigarette, cigar or pipe. Which is to say using it once in a while is essentially harmless, using it every day could eventually lead to health problems.

Hookah is flavored tobacco but I have read that the amount of tobacco in the hookah is equal to quite a bit of cigarettes. It's very unhealthy.

umm well, usually it is harmless (just flavored tabacco that goes into the pipe~~filtered through water and a long hose thingy~the flavors they have are awesome~~I have done hookah many times my fav is pina colada and ~~~mango ~~you can get a little light headed...................
To be honest with you, smoking anything isn't good for you. But if you think about it, how many puffs do you get if you're in a group, and how many times do you do it a week? Pure flavoured tobaco is much less harmful than cigarettes because it doesn't contain as many toxic chemicals. Man, you live with cars that emit alot more smoke than a hooka, or sheisha, or arguila. This is mild compared to cigarettes, cars, or crack. Just keep it in moderation.
typically smoking anything is not good for you. however it depends what he is smoking in his hookah. A hookah is a middle eastern device for smoking. A hookah uses indirect heat and water filtration. Usually it is used for smoking flavored tabaccos which I would guess are only a little more harmful than cigarettes depending if he is using any filters or not. but it can be used to smoke any number of things. just that a hookah is used makes it no more dangerous or addictive. There are hookah bars near where i live in the US where you can go in and smoke flavored tobacco from the same hookah with six friends at the same time. unless hookah is slang for something that i totally missed, then i depends on what your friend is using his hookah for.

yes hookah is bad for u not as bad for u as ciggerets but it's still bad. i wouldn't smoke it if i were u it's bad for u'r teeth &bad for u'r health trust me i did research about it quit as soon as u can!
